To join any of these ministries, <strong><em>please contact the parish office at 416-247-0513 or email us at translord45@gmail.com.<\/em><br \/><\/strong><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_1\">Our vision is to form youth and young adults into Christian leaders who come to know Christ, deepen their relationship with Him, and are transformed into one of His faith-filled disciples \u2013 evangelize, gather, catechize, and send forth.<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-153\" src=\"http:\/\/transchurch.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/a1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"a1\" width=\"245\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Adorers\/Chapel<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The adorers are responsible for \u201csharing\u201d the hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament as our chapel is open 24 Hours as day. If you would like to be an adorer please contact the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Altar Servers<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The servers are a group of young people from grade 4 to university age who would like to assist the priest during the mass. If you are an interested youth or would like to find out more information please contact the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Altar Society<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The altar society helps in cleaning the parish as well as keeping the chalices, ceboria and other mass items clean and ready for use. If you would like to join this group, please call the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_1\">Catechism<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style_2\"> \u2013 Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish is unique as parishioners help with the instruction and education of young people wanting to make their First Communion or Confirmation. If you would like to become a catechist, please contact the parish office. If you would like more information on the First Communion or Confirmation program please contact the parish office in September when registration begins. If you are an adult, you would need to take an RCIA program to be confirmed. Contact the Archdiocese at (416) 934-0606 for more information.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_1\">Catholic Women\u2019s League<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style_2\"> \u2013 If you would like to join the Catholic Women\u2019s League, please call the parish office. The Catholic Women\u2019s League of Canada is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God.<\/span><\/p><p>The objects of the League shall be to unite Catholic women of Canada:<br \/>1. to achieve individual and collective spiritual development;<br \/>2. to promote the teachings of the Catholic church;<br \/>3. to exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life;<br \/>4. to protect the sanctity of life;<br \/>5. to enhance the role of women in church and society;<br \/>6. to recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere;<br \/>7. to uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world;<br \/>8. to contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony;<\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><strong><span class=\"style_1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-154\" src=\"http:\/\/transchurch.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/a2-251x300.jpg\" alt=\"a2\" width=\"251\" height=\"297\" \/><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>Children\u2019s Liturgy<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"style_2\"> \u2013 Children\u2019s Liturgy is actually the Liturgy of the Word for Children. We cover the Gospel of the day at a level the children can understand and enjoy. We enrich this with discussion, prayers, songs and plays. We also try to raise awareness of God\u2019s love, the humanity of Jesus, the Seasons of the Church, the understanding of symbols in the Mass and the context of the Bible.<br \/>Our aim is to make the children\u2019s experience of church meaningful, whilst helping them to grow in the faith of the Catholic Church and develop as full and active members of our Parish Community.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_1\">Children\u2019s Choir<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style_2\"> \u2013 The children\u2019s choir sings during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday mass.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_1\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_1\">Eucharistic Ministers<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style_2\"> \u2013 This group helps with the distribution of Communion during the masses on the weekend. If you would like to join this group, please approach one of the priests at the beginning or end of mass.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Italian Social Committee<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The committee helps organize functions for the Italian community as well as the community at large. Check the bulletin to see upcoming events.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Lectors<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/em><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The lectors help with the readings in the parish on a weekly basis. If you would like to join the lectors, please contact the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Outreach Program<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The outreach program is formed of parishioners willing to make a casserole once a month. These then get delivered downtown to the Good Shepherd Refuge to help with the less fortunate. If you would like to be a part of this program come by the office to pick-up a calendar with drop dates, recipe and pan.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Parish Pastoral Council<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The council is elected by the parish and has a two year term. They help the pastor of the parish make informed decisions about requirements or programs within the parish.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Pastoral Care<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 This team helps distribute the sacrament of Holy Communion to the elderly and those with physical limitations that do not allow them to attend mass. If you would like more information on this group, please contact the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">St. Vincent de Paul<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 The dedicated committee within the group helps with the less fortunate in the community. If you require help and live within the parish boundaries, please contact the parish office.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong><span class=\"style_4\">Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers)<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span class=\"style\"> \u2013 Minister of hospitality is a group of people within the church community who welcome all people without distinction, with genuine warmth, joy and graciousness.<br \/>They assist in the many activities as may be required or directed by the Pastor.<br \/>They welcome parishioners and visitors to the celebrations and ensure the congregation is seated. They distribute weekly bulletins, also programs or song sheets as may require. They are also responsible for arrangements for the offertory with and the assistance of the parishioners and for St. Vincent DePaul society\u2019s collection box after the celebrations.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)<\/em> <\/span>\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>R.C.I.A is a ministry and program for Adults seeking to be initiated and received fully into the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. It is a ministry for the unbaptized, the baptized of other Christian denominations wishing to join the Roman Catholic Church, and people of other Religions wishing to join the Roman Catholic Church.\u00a0 It is run by a team of laypersons (usually with a Director and his or her core team leadership members) and assisted by the Pastor or his Associate Pastor. RCIA classes take place on every Tuesday (from September to May) at 7 pm. If you would like to Join the RCIA In Transfiguration of our Lord Church, please contact the parish office.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Knight of Columbus (Humber Valley Council)<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>\u00a0-Transfiguration of Our Lord\u2019s Knights of Columbus \u2013 Humber Valley Council # 3945 \u2013 is one of more than 15 000 Councils Worldwide committed to the virtues of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Our Council is proudly serving our parish and local community for many years now. The Knights of Columbus (founded 133 years ago by Venerable Servant of God, Fr. Michael J. McGivney on March 29, 1882) is the largest fraternal benefits society and lay order in the Catholic Church consisting of more than 2 000 000 Catholic gentlemen of which approximately 300 000 belong to its Honor Guard branch which brings further color and reverence to Church functions. While its insurance products are strictly voluntary and only sold to members, the hallmark virtue of the Knights are their charitable works \u2013 over the past decade approximately 1.5 billion dollars have been donated to charity.<br \/>The Knights at our parish are one with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, in solidarity with their priests, promoters for vocations, defenders of Catholic family values and life from conception to natural death. Join the Knights of our Humber Valley Council and we guarantee that you will grow in the faith while becoming a better person, husband, father and son.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph_style_3\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>ShareLife<\/strong> <\/span><\/em>\u2013 is a fund raising organization of the Archdiocese of Toronto. The funds collected support 33 agencies that are dedicated to easing the suffering and the problems associated with daily living.<br \/>A fund raising campaign is conducted every year from March to June. Our parish uses the direct Mail approach rather than sending canvassers to each home.
